Upon moving to Athens, Texas, Vandelay started the band, GWA in 2001, which turned out to be a recording project with Vandelay playing all the instruments. In 2003, GWA debuted with the self-released EP, Hard Rock Candy Sandwich.Neatly Real's name was coined in 2007 by Gary Vandelay, after six years using the band name, GWA. In 2007 Vandelay found several candidates on Craigslist to form a new band in Austin, Texas. --About the Artist About the Artist GWA [renamed Neatly Real] is a Pop/Rock band that sounds like Paul McCartney meets Simple Minds in a Fountains of Wayne world, with David Bowie as king. The band is fronted by the American recording artist, Gary Allen. Gary was raised in Southeast Texas in the concrete jungle, melting-pot of the "boomtown on the bayou".
